The MAHEC network aims to improve the availability of primary care health personnel especially in rural and urban underserved areas of Missouri. The MAHEC network has three components:
Missouri AHEC, Inc.(MAHEC, Inc.) is a not-for-profit organization established to support the mission, goals and partners of the Missouri AHEC network.
The program offices, in collaboration with the regional centers, facilitate training of health professions students in underserved communities to build connections and develop an understanding of community, improve job-readiness skills, and recruit them to be future health care providers.
The regional centers, in collaboration with the program offices, coordinate AHEC activities in their geographic regions around recruitment, clinical training, and retention of providers in areas of need.
