MAHEC youth recruitment efforts are designed to expose students to the world of healthcare careers. Consistent with our mission, MAHEC provides:
- school-based healthcare career orientations
- community-based activities for students of various ages
- structured healthcare professional shadowing
- career counseling
- academic enrichment
- health related exploration activities
All of which nurture early interest by providing intriguing, age-appropriate learning activities.
During the last state fiscal year, Missouri regional AHEC centers provided 144 distinct programs to 9,644 Missouri youth through 1,140 individual offerings.
Individual counseling is available for high school and undergraduate students interested in a healthcare career.
In addition, more comprehensive one-on-one programming is offered to a select group of high school and undergraduate students actively pursuing a career in primary health care through the
ACES Program.
