Aurora Powell
Hometown: Hannibal
AHEC Region: Northeast

Aurora joined AHEC in high school and participated in the Still Scholar Early Acceptance program. She is currently a 4th-year medical student at A.T. Still University/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She plans to practice family medicine and attributes her decision to pursue medicine to exploration activities, job shadowing, and networking through AHEC.

Kristen Alexander
Hometown: Poplar Bluff
AHEC Region: Southeast

Kristen was active in AHEC programming in high school and college and is currently a third-year dental student at the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Kirksville.  She hopes to return to Southeast Missouri and work at a community health clinic where she will be able to work with an underserved population.

Laura Ulmer, DO 
Hometown: Potosi
AHEC Region: Mid-Missouri

Dr. Ulmer entered MAHEC pipeline as a high school student. She is completing an internal medicine residency and will start a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She still has plans to practice in Missouri.

Gabe Anders, DO
Hometown: Independence
AHEC Region: West Central

Dr. Anders participated in the ACES program in high school. He is currently an Internal Medicine resident at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and will return to Brookfield, Missouri to practice medicine upon completion.

Shayla Barber
Hometown: Saint Louis
AHEC Region: East Central

Shayla Barber participated in the ACES program as a high school senior and continued her involvement while attending college at Lindenwood University.  She was accepted to the UMKC School of Dentistry and will graduate in May 2016. 

Debra Wekesa

Debra participated in MAHEC health career exploration programs as a high school ACES student and as of Fall 2015 is a first year student at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine.

Iesha Draper
Hometown: Saint Louis

Iesha began participating in AHEC activities early in college.  She is currently a fourth year medical student at A.T. Still University/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and hopes to match to a pediatric residency program in her hometown of Saint Louis. 

Jessica Snyder

AHEC Region: Northeast

Jessica has been involved since 2006 and is currently a second year student and Bryant Scholar at University of Missouri. Jessica completed Summer Rural Community rotations with Northwest Missouri AHEC in 2015.

Sarah Kirchhoff, MD
Hometown: Concordia 
AHEC Region: West Central

Dr. Kirchhoff is currently a family medicine resident at the University of Missouri Hospital.  She was a Bryant Scholar and completed clinical training as a rural track student through Northwest Missouri AHEC and other elective rotations through the West Central Missouri AHEC.  She plans to practice in Concordia.

Julie Hancock

AHEC Region: Northwest

Julie participated in the ACES program in high school and while attending William Jewell College. She is currently a fourth year medical student at A.T. Still University/Kirksville

College of Osteopathic Medicine and is completing two years of rotations through Northwest Missouri AHEC. She will begin her family medicine residency in Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington as an Active Duty Captain in the Army. She hopes to return to Carrollton following her military career.

Amanda Arnold, BSN

Amanda participated in ACES while in high school and as an undergraduate nursing student.  She is the community health nurse for HCC of Rural Missouri in Lafayette County and continues to work with AHEC in career exploration activities for younger students.

Riley Rains, DDS
Hometown: Gallatin
AHEC Region: Northwest

Dr. Rains participated in AHEC programming as a sophomore.  He is a graduate of the University Of Missouri Kansas City School Of Dentistry and began practicing at the Northeast Health Council (federally qualified health center) in Kirksville in summer, 2015.

Brianna McCowan, BSN
Hometown: Kansas City
AHEC Region: West Central

Brianna joined ACES as a sophomore at Raytown South High School and attended UMKC School of Nursing. She graduated in May 2015 and is now a NICU nurse at Saint Luke’s hospital in Kansas City.

Taylor Sadler, BSN
Hometown: St. Joseph
AHEC Region: Northwest

Taylor was not only a participant in AHEC youth programming but also worked for Northwest Missouri AHEC while attending college.  She is a December 2015 graduate of Missouri Western State University and AHEC has watched her come up the pipeline as she now serves as a nurse on the oncology unit at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Brandy Roberts Larson
Hometown: Cairo
AHEC Region: Northeast

Dr. Larson attended AHEC workshops as a high school student, attended William Jewell College and then pursued her PharmD degree from the UMKC School of Pharmacy.  She has returned to her home county (Randolph) to be a pharmacist at a local pharmacy in Moberly.

Ben Reine, DO
Hometown: Savannah
AHEC Region: Northwest

Dr. Reine was a sophomore when he joined the ACES program and participated in career exploration activities, shadowing, internships, and clinical rotations through AHEC.  He returned to Northwest Missouri in 2015 to practice family medicine. His journey with AHEC has come full circle as he now provides lectures for current medical students, preparing to complete the pipeline as he becomes a preceptor for the 2016-17 year.

Gretchen Price, DO
Hometown: Ellsinore
AHEC Region: Southeast

Gretchen Price participated in AHEC activities as a high school student from East Carter High School.  She attended A.T. Still University/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and has returned to Cape Girardeau to work as a hospitalist at Saint Francis Medical Center.
